What we are trying to achieve with students

Within the IT and Business Studies faculty we try to create an environment where both good teaching and quality learning take place.

The faculty has seven teachers and 2 network managers. Four of the teachers are ICT specialists and three Business Studies experts. The enthusiasm and subject knowledge of staff empower students to take responsibility for their own learning.

There are 10 networked computer rooms that run Microsoft Office 2007 and a range of other software packages. These make it possible to deliver imaginative lessons set in a context that students can relate to. The increasing use of technology in all aspects of society makes confident, creative and productive use of ICT an essential skill for life. Our students are taught technical skills and techniques, but also the understanding to apply these skills purposefully, safely and responsibly in learning, everyday life and employment. Business Studies is available as an optional subject at key stage 4 and is consistently popular and successful.

Our aim is to deliver imaginative and enjoyable lessons within an environment that is conducive to high quality teaching and learning.

The courses we run

Information Communication Technology is taught to all students to public examination level. Students may achieve a range of results from 1 - 4 GCSEs or equivalent.

At Key Stage 4 a number of different Business studies options are available to students. There is a portfolio of subjects to suit students' abilities and needs: Business Studies, Business Communication Systems, Btec Business and Applied Business.

Within the sixth form, Information Technology and Business Studies are among the most popular subjects.
