Uniform

It is our aim that students should develop a sense of pride in their work, behaviour and dress. As part of this we consider uniform to be important and students are expected to wear the following items:

Blazer - black with school badge
Trousers - black, classic style with front crease
Skirt - black, box-pleated, approximately knee length, (all years)
Skirt - black, straight, approximately knee length, with kick pleat (years 9, 10 & 11 only)
Shirt - white, in a style that allows a tie to be worn
School tie
Pullover - black, v-neck with school crest - available from school
Socks - black or white
Tights - plain, flesh-coloured or black
Footwear - formal and sensible black shoes - no trainers

All items of uniform (unless stated otherwise) are to be obtained from Pope and Smith, School Uniform Suppliers, in Moulsham Street, Chelmsford. Please ensure that jewellery, if it has to be worn, is limited to one ring and a maximum of one plain stud earring per ear. For safety reasons, nose studs and other facial piercings are not allowed to be worn in school.

Girls in years 7 to 9 should not wear make-up. Nail varnish must not be worn to school.

SANCTIONS

In order that we may maintain our high standards, the school adheres to a sanctions policy with regards to school uniform.

Students now carry a card on which staff record infringements of the uniform policy. These infringements include the wearing of trainers (without a note from parents indicating the reason), not wearing a tie or wearing the tie incorrectly, shirts not tucked in, etc. Once a student has six "strikes" on his or her card then he or she will be given a detention. Likewise, if a student is not carrying his/her card they will automatically receive a detention. These detentions are  from 3.15 to 4.15 daily and are supervised by members of the senior staff.  Students are given a detention slip to give to their parent notifying them of the detention.
